This is the true story of Molly Craig, a young black Australian girl who leads her younger sister and cousin in an escape from an official government camp, set up as part of an official government policy to train them as domestic workers and integrate them into white society. With grit and determination Molly guides the girls on an epic journey, one step ahead of the authorities, over 1,500 miles of Australia's outback in search of the rabbit-proof fence that bisects the continent and will lead them home. These three girls are part of what is referred to today as the 'Stolen Generations.'

This has to be one of best Australian made movies I have seen in a long time . It is a very emotional movie that is accompanied with great cinematography, acting and soundtrack.

This movie almost made me cry , I highly recommend it to anybody.

It still sickens me to hear every now and then how cruel man can be to others just because someone has a different skin color or "race". May it be the Nazis againt the Jews, Whites vs the Blacks etc. or any form of prejudice.

Can someone give me a background as to why the Australian Gov't needed to "protect" these "half breeds"? And this happened untill 1970 ? Well come to think of it apartied in South Africa only ended 10 years ago.

Do we really hate each other? Is it in us that we naturally hate each? I think we still do to a certain degree, we just don't show it that much.

Anyway this movie is really good, the mere fact that these girls WALKED 1,500 miles in 9 weeks across Australia just to be with their parents should alsready give u an idea.

btw the soundtrack for this movie is simply GREAT !!!!! , its by Peter Gabriel and one of the tracks is even used as trailer music for "The Passion"
