Mystic River is a masterpiece
I ususally don't like tragedies but this is definitely some good drama. I think this is Clint Eastwood's best work since Unforgiven.

saw it finally the other day and did not like it that much..
A movie with Sean Penn, Tim Robbins, Kevin Bacon, and Laurence Fishburne, directed by Clint Eastwood certainly gives high hopes but damn I found this movie went overboard in terms of classic film making. I mean its freaking boring.
I like classic film making as oppose to fast edit MTV style movies.
Clint Eastwood certainly is a very good film maker in terms of classic styles.
However this movie reminded me too much of "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" which I think is a better movie and (Mystic River) simply went overboard in terms of directing it, its to damn pretentious.
Its a good drama suspense movie but I certainly expected more. Besides.I saw the plot twist coming a mile away...Last edited by trailergod; 06-03-2004 at 05:30 AM.

I really enjoyed watching it myself. I saw it in the theatre about 6 months ago or so. So I couldn't understand anything without closed captioning.
SPOILERS:
I did catch the part about the guy killing the Sean Penn's daughter. Then it turned out he found out about it and killed him. And he wuzn't the one who killed his daughter after all. So there wuz no need for subtitles. And I still really enjoyed it.
I'm gonna buy this on DVD... 4.5/5"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."
