I know for a fact that a 2:35:1 anamorphic source exists out there, so I wouldn't call this a definitive edition by any means

Sup Mark, I'm a newbie here and these forums are awesome. Matrix is one of my favorites movies of all time and I just check out the trailer you encoded and it's by far the best one I've ever seen. So kudos for an awesome encoded!

i've made a comparison picture between the teaser, the trailer (anamorphic and non-anamorphic) and the movie from the new dvd box. all scenes are ntsc and not changed in any way.

the color bars are for the following sources...

    teaser
    trailer anamorphic
    trailer non-anamorphic
    movie

as you can see the picture is streched in some sources but that isn't an usual thing these days as reference point for this comarison i used the pipe connection on the wall.

so the trailer is actually showing more picture ? ala open matte... I dont mind that.. it means it has more vertical resolution than normal... :-)

i've made a new pic in which i matched all sources together. this means all differences like stretching are gone. this will give you a much better view what was actually photographed during production and later matted for the final film on the new matrix dvd.

    Honestly.

I mean you guys do rip a topic apart. By that does not take anything away from the trailer. It seriously awesome and amazingly encoded. As long as the trailer's good, who cares what ratio it is in!

Nor anyone cares much for the opinion from people who's been bumping a lot of old threads just to post some fluffy thank-yous. I may think that YOU're the one driving the topic apart and wasting my Forum-reading time, but I'm not telling you that now, AM I!?

Then again, every member is entitled to express their own opinions/gratitudes/whatever. One is not in a position of telling the others that they are 'ripping a topic apart', especially when it's relevant to the best presentation of a movie trailer - a main emphasis of the site.

Even more so when it is a newbie who is telling a long-contributor that he is 'ripping a topic apart'.
