    <img src="http://www.cinescape.com/multimedia/Master_Site/DVD/Master_SiteDVD288877.jpg">
    MILLENNIUM ACTRESS
The list of candidates for the Best Animated Feature for next year's Academy Awards has been given out and The Walt Disney Company is at the head of the candidates. Disney has four films nominated for the Oscar including FINDING NEMO, THE JUNGLE BOOK II, BROTHER BEAR and PIGLET'S BIG MOVIE.

Japanese director Satoshi Kon has two pictures nominated: DreamWorks' MILLENNIUM ACTRESS and TOKYO GODFATHERS, a forthcoming release by Samuel Goldwyn Films.

Warner Bros. has one candidate (LOONEY TUNES: BACK IN ACTION), Miramax has POKEMON HEROES, Sony Pictures Classics has THE TRIPLETS OF BELLEVILLE, and the German-produced JESTER TILL and RUGRATS GO WILD round the rest of the contenders out.

The Academy Awards will be held on February 29, 2004.
    From Cinescape

    So thats:
    FINDING NEMO
    THE JUNGLE BOOK II
    BROTHER BEAR
    PIGLET'S BIG MOVIE
    MILLENNIUM ACTRESS
    TOKYO GODFATHERS
    LOONEY TUNES: BACK IN ACTION
    POKEMON HEROES
    THE TRIPLETS OF BELLEVILLE
    JESTER TILL
    RUGRATS GO WILD

couldn't find any info on TOKYO GODFATHERS or JESTER TILL.

only list of candidates but here is My guess:
    count these out
    • Rugrats, Pokemon and Piglet is proberbly not gonna win an Oscar.
    • Loony Toons seem liks a fun movie but i doubt it will win oscar for animation as there are others that are 100% animation and better done.
    • Jungle Book 2 is not a likely candidate either. havent seen it but all disney 2 seem to suck.
    • as i couldent find TOKYO GODFATHERS or JESTER TILL on IMDB i'll just choose to take that as a sign it wont win =)

    that leaves
    • Finding Nemo Strong contender. did great at the box office.
    • The Triplets of Belleville Havent seen, but looks nice and have gotten nice reviews, but its french!!! can the americans in the academy look past that? And as its non-american it will be seen by less of the academy than the american movies.
    • Millennium Actress I thought this one was older that '03. Is this in the race cuz its released in US this year? Anyway havent seen it but am told its a great movie. This one also suffers from the non-american issue.
    • Brother Bear This one looks very nice. very disney like, and they even pulled in Mr. Phil Collins again as an added bonus.

I think it could be a close race beetween Nemo, Bear and Actress.
They'll proberbly give collins an oscar for some song and one to nemo for animation. Which would leave acress left in the dust. Very hollywood like =)
Although im rooting for Actress, its time for the world to see that animation does not mean "for kids".
