    Question "Required Compressor" problem

    Hello Everyone,

I just downloaded the Lord of the Rings teaser (the 20 meg one), and when trying to run it, i get the following message....

"You may experience problems playing a video track in 'L2Towers.mov' because the required compressor could not be found. Would you like to close the movie or continue?"

I also downloaded the 6 meg teaser and it plays just fine, not a problem or an error.

Anyone seen this before? Any ideas what this is?

    Thanks for your help!

Make sure you have the newest version of Quicktime.

    new QT

That's what is so bizzaro -- I have 5.0, but went to apple.com, downloaded it again, reinstalled it, and now the movie is playing but it is black-and-white and flickers badly -- like it's an old silent movie. The flickering makes it very hard to watch (and gives one a headache!).

Well, thanks anyway. I searched the knowledge base on apple, but didn't find anything relevant!

    You're watching the Bootleg Preview.
It was filmed by camcorder in the theatre, hence the flickering and bad colour.
