    Due a week later on May 25th is The Great Escape: Special Edition. This two-disc set will feature a new 2.35:1 anamorphic transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 and mono audio tracks, an audio commentary with the cast & crew, a subtitled trivia track, "The Great Escape: Heroes Underground," "The Real Virgil Hilts: A Man Called Jones" and "The Great Escape: The Untold Story" featurettes, a photo gallery and trailers. Retail is also $29.98.

    Is this only coming to DVD in the US now??

    It's been here in Australia for over a year.



    Same extras and everything. Wonder why that is.

    Not sure. All we have for R1 is a bare bones release. I'm happy that we're getting this new SE.

    A non-anamorphic R1 version has been available .. it's one I often see going cheap in the 'bargain bin'. Thanks for the news chernabog_ca, I've been waiting for this one.
