The Alamo Teaser Poster

http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/386/386233p1.html

John Lee Hancock is directing the historical epic and has rewritten a screenplay previously worked on by Les Bohem, John Sayles and Steven Gaghan. The cast includes Dennis Quaid as Sam Houston, Jason Patric as Jim Bowie, Billy Bob Thornton as Davy Crockett, Patrick Wilson as William Barret Travis, and Emilio Echevarria as General Santa Anna.

The Alamo recounts the oft-told tale of the 1836 siege of an old adobe Spanish mission dubbed "The Alamo" (located in modern day San Antonio, Texas) by the forces of Mexican leader General Antonio López de Santa Anna. Inside the mission were a band of nearly two hundred "Texian" rebels and some of their families and slaves. These rebels were primarily Anglo but there were also Tejanos among them who had grown resentful of Santa Anna's reign.

The film recalls the thirteen-day siege that led to the bloody March 6, 1836 battle where the Mexicans slaughtered the Texians to the last man. The only survivors among the rebels were some of their wives, children, and slaves.

Not extreamly familiar with the story of The Alamo but by the sounds of it, it looks like a story that won't have a sterotypical happy ending.

Poster is looking decent. Tagline fits but the font for the title seems out of place.

the lines and dirt effect on it just doesn't work for me for some reason. It should look old and worn and beat up like that but I'm thinking there is another, more fitting way to get the effect....

I like though - looking forward to a trailer.

New, Improved(?) Official Alamo Poster ..

A new Alamo poster ..
The New Alamo Poster!
Now available online.

October 14, 2003 - The Z Review has posted the new poster for Touchstone Pictures' forthcoming historical epic The Alamo. The simply designed poster seen below may just be a teaser with a "big heads" poster due closer to the film's December 25th release date ... but that's just speculation on my part.

A variation of this poster was used recently in an advertisement published in The Hollywood Reporter.

The poster boasts a simple tagline with the film's title spelled in fiery lettering. If you look closely you can see images of the infamous battle within the letters. The stars' names appear above the signatures of the characters they portray.

Whoa, IMO I thought that the first one was kinda sad, but I think that they've outdone themselves with this new one! If you're really sure that you need a larger version of this even more pittiful attempt at a movie poster you can click here?! (No doubt there are people get paid good money to sign off on this sort of stuff?!)

That is a poor poster. At least have the actors on it! December 25th? Thar's a first. Usually, they come out on Boxing Day.

I disagree "Trailers" (although obviously you are entitled to your own opinion).

I love the poster. It tells me that the historical event is going to take a more prominent role than any one actor, and they aren't trying to just get you in the theater based on a big name.

But at the same time, with the signatures, you know who each person is playing, and it makes me want to read more about each character.

Just my thoughts. Plus the picture in the letters looks awesome.

I just think it looks bland. It needs that something for me to like a poster. Having a black background is not a great start.

I think it works well with the trailer. Both were pretty bland.

Did anyone else think that a lot of the lines in the trailer were just a little too cheesy.

"The Patriot" was a history movie. Did that make it good?

I'm just saying that this film would have been a lot better if Ron Howard would have been able to direct his R-rated epic "The Alamo" but Disney decided that the film should be PG-13 and more of an action film.

Because of that news, "The Alamo" just won't do it for me.

How are you going to let the rating stop you from seeing a movie?

There are plenty of war time epics that have been amazing that weren't rated R. Patton and Gettysburg were both PG and they are great movies, and very historcally accurate. Plus, I think the ratings are a little more lenient these days with what constitutes R rated violence. Movies are more often upgraded to R based on lstrong language and sexual content (neither of which is neccessary for this movie).

I know that the director went to great lengths to make the film, particularly the battle scenes, as historically accurate as possible, so that is what is going to really interest me.

I can't wait to see The Alamo. I think it looks pretty cool, and I love that Billy Bob is playing Davey Crockett...I can't think of anyone who would have done a better job. Hopefully this movie will be as good as I think it will be. Can't wait!
