Bizzare Australia news - Is this true?
CANBERRA, Australia - Couples in Australia now have a nice
incentive to have children - 2,000 bucks for every baby
born after June. Peter Costello, the treasurer of the
country, said that two children per couple in a nation of
20 million just isn't enough to sustain growth. He said it
is the "patriotic duty" of couples to have at least three
children. The initiative will be up for grabs for the next
five years. "You should have ... one for your husband, one
for your wife, and one for your country," Costello said.
Some couples might have to go even further and have extra
children "for your country" to accommodate for the gap left
by those "who are not even replicating themselves." The
father of three ended the news conference by telling repor-
ters, "You go home and do your patriotic duty tonight."

LOL.
But $2,000 isn't really tempting. Raising a child would cost a lot more.

But the sad thing is, mothers that are geared up to give birth before this happens, are delaying their birthing so they can get an extra $2000. Bad for the child and mother. The things people do for money.

Kn'thrak, you're saying $2000/month?? per month?

Na! Its an addition AU$2000 towards per child. Addition to any monthly pay they receive. Well, its an extra $2000! Better than nothing like it was last time. Could be emergancy money for the mother or add to the child's future fund... or like they say in America... College Fund.

i think this is a very bad idea
if you take a look at those daily talk shows you see already enough bi*ches that get 5 children by 5 different men and only live from the child support they get. i bet some idiots now think it's easy money that can be earned and get children they won't look after just to get 2000$somebody told me you have a boyfriend who looks like a girldfriend that i had in february of last year the killers
