How do I port computer display to tv?

I know a lot of you savvy computer types know how to send the computer display to the tv, but I'm clueless. Do I have to buy some software? Some hardware? I would love to have my external hard drive that has all of my trailers hooked up to my laptop, which I would keep on my coffee table. Then when I want to watch a movie, flip through my DVD Profiler program that has all my trailers linked to my movies .. and be able to see the trailers on my tv. My guests would to crazy!

But I don't know how to do it...

    Help!

like zubi said. U need a graphics card with a TV Out so all u have to do is connect the S-video or RCA cables from ur PC to the TV.

If you have a new TV (also a good one), today they make TV that are PC ready so you don't have buy any hardware or software. Just connect the monitor cable from the PC to the TV and baddabing, baddaboom! Most good Plasma TVs have this option.

I watch trailers all the time through the threatre system. So that means I connect my PC to my Receiver and the Receiver is connected to my PC. Its all beautiful and very easy to do. I'm sure there are guides online but if you need help, I could take you through a step by step process.

Cool! Of course, my graphics card doesn't have TV Out, so I'm going to have to replace that before I go on. I have a relatively new 61" Sony HD TV, so I'm hoping it is set up as you describe, but I can't find the dumb manual. I'm sure I can find something online about it.

On the graphics card .... I've done a preliminary search, but the prices range from $30 or so up to the thousands. What do you suggest as a good one to get (NOT the one that cost thousands of course!!!)? I have a Dell Dimension XPS 450 computer.

suggestion: buy ATI Radeon graphic card... 9600 or 9800.
if this is too expensive for yaa, like 9200 SE with TV OUT will be just enough.
