    What Defines a Classic?

I just wanted to ask others out there what defines a "Classic" trailer.

Too me, a Classic trailers is a trailer not currently available for download on the Internet or the copy available for download is horrible quality (such as many hollywood.com trailers).

There was some dispute about the "Men In Black" trailer in this forum and whether or not it was truly a Classic trailer. Though it is a popular movie, the only versions of that trailer currently available for download are horrible 56k Real Video or WMV. This to me would define it as a Classic trailer.

Later on I'm planing on encoding fullscreen trailers for Fight Club. It came out in 1999, but there are no good QuickTime trailers anywhere to be found.

Now that you know what I think a "Classic" trailer is do others agree? Your opinion is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you all again.

    Arrow

    Question is:

    are we talkin bout
    a) 'classic trailers' or
    b) 'trailers from classic movies'???

I think there is really a difference

    a) IMHO a 'classic trailer' would be a trailer that redefined the term 'trailer' at the time it was released (e.g. this Godzilla teaser, with the kids in the museum, when Gozilla crashes through the roof an destroys the skeleton of a T-Rex)

    b) IMHO a 'trailer from a classic movie' would be a trailer from a movie that is NOT available on DVD (e.g. Raiders of the lost Ark, Star Wars, Sunset Blvd. etc)

To me, The Classics are either...

    a) trailers that are memorable years after they have been released.

    b) trailers to ground-breaking or fan-favourite movies.

Godzilla is a good example of "a"
Men in Black is an example of "b"

(btw... Godzilla teasers will be coming soon).
