j-lo ends up on the cutting room floor (major jersey girl spoilers)
from imdb:
"The failure of Gigli has enabled director Kevin Smith to rejigger his upcoming Jersey Girl into the kind of movie he had originally conceived -- one that features Ben Affleck as a single father raising a young daughter, the New York Times reported today (Monday). Until unfavorable reviews of Gigli began to roll in, Smith had been prevailed upon to expand the role of the girl's mother, played by Jennifer Lopez, in order to take advantage of the publicity surrounding the Affleck-Lopez romance. Smith told the Times that he began trimming Lopez's scenes after Jersey Girl tested poorly with preview audiences. But, he said, Miramax co-chairman Harvey Weinstein "was always 'Let's leave as much of Jennifer in because we paid her $4 million for the movie.'" Her character now dies in the movie's first 15 minutes, the Times said."
omg, could there be something more embarassing for an "actress" than this?

So I guess she got the big fat boot(y)! Sorry, just couldn't resist.
I understand that when Hitchcock did it to Janet Leigh's character in 1960's Psycho apparently audiences gasped outloud, they just couldn't believe that the star actress was killed off so soon into the film. I don't know that J-Lo can hold a candle to Leigh as an actress (actually, yeah, I think I do know .. and she can't) but I just had a bit of a deja vu when I read the post."It used to be said that we are what we eat... And then people maybe... a little more fashion conscious would say... 'No, you are what you wear'... Or you are what you read... But we would say in this millenium... You are what you watch..." Like all crap actors and actresses, she had to die. I still can't forget Steven Seagal's infamous exit from Executive Desicion

Gigli on imdb.com had this in alternative versions:
The original ending had Gigli dying. But after test screening audiences hated the ending, the studio was forced to change it and re-shoot new scenes for a new ending.
