Taxi (640X480)

Taxi (1998)

Taxi (15.5 Megs)

I'm back!!!!

Anyway, just wanted to apologise for the quality. The pic quality on the DVD isn't the best there is, and some git burned the subs below the picture, so I had to leave the cropping at the bottom, and subsequently tried to get a more central picture by cropping a little from the bottom and leaving it at the top. Anyway, it's a fun little trailer (IMHO) and the film is currently unavailable in the US so a better scource is unlikely.

Oh, and my review http://www.epinions.com/content_126973808260

Noticed your logo is interlaced. I'm assuming you did that in Premiere... in your project settings, under keyframes and rendering, be sure to select no fields in the 'fields' setting.

Thanks for the trailer!!!!

Btw. there's a way you can take the subs into the picture. Just rip the trailer and the subs separately. Then merge them using "black screen".

It is, I think the last logo I used I ran through Vdub first and used the deinterlace feature as a precaution. I forgot to do it this time but didn't notice the interlacing because my poor CPU is lousy with 640X480. I got Bender to check the quality, but I don't think he payed much attention to the logo, so thanks and I'll get that fixed for my next one.

I tried Vobsub, but the subtitle file wasn't there because they had been burned into the VOB, you wouldn't be able to switch the subs off if you were watching the DVD. If it's still possible to do that then can you please post a semi detailed guide in the FAQ, for future reference, plus I could do this one again completely cropped.

Finally got Adobe to do something right.

Anyway, I have the trailer now. Subs are a little ugly, but that's not exactly my fault, but I've noticed that the audio is out of sync on the one I've done now. Can somone tell me if this is the case on the one currently online please? Thanks.

Done, Once again, sorry if it's not the highest quality but those subs were all over the place, so they may sometimes appear kind of high, and the black background was multiple greys, so I had to work on it to get it black for the transparancy to set in, and occasionally it shows through.

Anyway thanks to sexmaniac and Richard for the help.

If you don't mind me saying there are few bad things:
- This is a line of bizzare static across the first shot of Daniel eating something in his car while the Japanese guy runs toward it.
- This subtitles look very BIG and pixellated.
If you don't mind me saying, I wouldn't mind the old version. But then again, critisizing make you go on to better things (unless your name is Paul WS Anderson)

In case you didn't read the spam, carl:

You may need some masking off the top(?) area of the subtitle track, as well as feather the edge if you were (luma?) keying the text.

Another screengrab from version 2 (no pun intended ):

Still, you did well for your first effort with the equipment you have to use.

It wasn't that, I said in my comment, the VOB was crap!!!

The vob was not contrasted correctly, and so the black bars were multiple shades of grey. I used the brightness tool on tmpeg because I needed to get it as dark as possible without turning the subs brown (which Vdub did) and it did an amazing job, turning everything except the areas directly around the subs, which is what makes them look pixelated, Jet black. Sadly the vob was all over the place too. It was one of those where the black bar will flicker, so that it's in a different position each time, and the subs moved around that area. So I cropped everything until if I cropped any more the subs would start to disapear, and still there was a small selection of the trailer in 1 or 2 frames, which is what you picked up on. Just a crappy VOB, but the best VOB available since there is the film is unavailable in America in any format, and is not in any planned release scheduals that I know of.

Like I said in my original post, crappy VOB, but I felt the trailer was cool enough to encode despite all that.

Hmmm... just a suggestion: how about re-typing the subs instead of using the crappily-shaded subs from the vob?

I don't have aaaany idea how to do that, or do you mean copying and pasting them to the thread? To be honest, I never really get a feel for the plot when that happens, just feels like reading them out of context. Just a personal feeling.
