THX VOB Trailers?
Hello,
This is my fist post in these forums, even though I visit Movie-List since its beginning.
I am looking for THX VOB trailers.
I already have some of them, but I would love to have them all, including the new ones. I searched this forum and found old threads about this but the links listed are down. Sites like Cinenow and others had to remove them.
Can someone help me out? Is there a FTP or something like that? I have some VOB movie trailers and soundtracks.
Thanks!

that was done with a reason: lucasfilm and thx told them to remove them as any other website who made these files available. therefor no one is willing to host these trailer anymore as lucasfilm and thx would send their lawyers
you may look at various movies that have the thx sign on it and you find some of the trailers there or you may check out ebay.

Yes I knew that, Cinenow also said they tried to work out a legal solution with THX but still without results.

THX obviously has the right to protect their work, but I don’t understand why they do this with the trailers, since the trailers are an advertisement of their product. Other companies would love to have free publicity.

that's easy to understand. if they had .vob files of their logos, then anyone could insert that into a DVD...even if it is not certified THX. then, imagine the scenario that you 've just watched a DVD that had "THX" on it yet the sound was crap. it would make you think badly about the THX brand and thus, reduce the quality of the name. that's why.

You can pick up a DVD on eBay from various sellers, but you have to watch because the auctions are often canceled before they end. I assume this is due to complaints by Lucas Film. Good luck!

read on the htf forum :
The Simpsons THX trailer can be found on its own on The Simpsons: The Complete Fifth Season box set; it is an extra on the first disc under 'Advertisements'. It is indeed in anamorphic widescreen and ends with a still of THX's silver-on-white logo. I believe the audio was also remixed; it sounds like a 'real' THX trailer to me.

I can verify that.
On the audio commentary of episode 'Burns' Heir' (in which the Simpsons THX 'trailer' first appeared), it was mentioned that GL saw the gag/episode and loved it so much ILM called the Simpsons people and asked to turn that into a real THX trailer. The trailer was indeed played in theaters for about 3 years. (Not sure if it's 'theaters in US only' though considering no overseas sighting's reported.) Matt Groening said it didn't look that good playing in a theater though, and the THX sound is a 'horrible... unpleasant sound'.
