The duo hitch a ride through space -- with the two-headed ex-hippie Zaphod; his girlfriend, the beautiful scientist Trillion; and a robot -- to discover the meaning of life.

I'm not sure that the question is complete, but what do I know?
I heard that there will be a sixth book in the trilogy sometime. Douglas Adams was working on it when he died, and someone else took over based on his notes. Not sure when it is due out, though.

That was awesome. Better than I expected. Love the part when Ford is talking to the giant woman and says "you've grown"- cracked me up.
