Bee Movie
by Jenny Jones

The review for this movie is short and sweet, just like the movie. "Bee Movie" is the cute and cuddly adventures of one brave bee named Berry Benson (voice of Jerry Seinfeld), who refuses to conform to the accepted norms of his bee society. He is a little guy, an underdog, who is taking on one of the toughest competitors in bee history, the honey manufacturers of the United States and they are represented by a rather plump, rather powerful, southern speaking defence attorney (voice of John Goodman). With the help of his new human girlfriend (voice of Rene Zellewegger) Berry sues the entire human race for abusing bees and stealing all of their hard made honey. He accuses humans of keeping bees in slavery and forcing them to work around the clock in order to produce honey for the entire world but barely enough to sustain their own colonies. But before Berry and his friends can finish their victory celebrations and enjoy their much deserved vacation away from the labour and toil of the factories, they soon realize just how important their production of honey really was. They only hope that it is not too late to set things right before the damage to the balance of nature is irreversible.

"Bee Movie" is a heart-warming movie the entire family can enjoy together. It is not filled with side-splitting humour, as I had anticipated, but it definitely has its moments of classic laugh out loud Seinfeld comedy. The animation was good, although nothing spectacular, and the relationship between Berry the bee and his human girlfriend was a little awkward and strange to say the least. All in all, it felt like some element was missing from this movie. I constantly felt like I was waiting for something dramatic or exciting to happen that never did. In the end it fell short of my expectations. However, regardless of its simple story, characters and animation, Berry is a charming and unique little insect full of big dreams and an even bigger heart that is sure to win you over. His adventures are silly and fun and will definitely entertain the children over and over again.
