The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior
by Jenny Jones
After he betrayed and slaughtered Samuel L. Jackson's character in the most recently released Star Wars Trilogy, Hayden Christensen is back with his co-star in yet another battle of good versus evil in the new sci-fi action thriller "Jumper". Only this time the roles are reversed. Jackson plays the bad guy, Roland, leader of the Paladins who are on a religious mission to seek out and destroy any and all "jumpers" that they can find. Christensen is young David Rice, a "jumper", one who possesses the amazing ability to jump through worm holes to anywhere in the world simply by using his thoughts/mind. The pursuit that ensues between these two characters is a non-stop, action-packed nail biter with a couple of shocking twists and turns and a very surprising ending.
Also starring Diane Lane as Mary Rice (David's estranged mother) and Rachel Bilson of "The O.C." fame as Millie (David's love interest), the performances in this film are far from Oscar winning, and many aspects of the plot are highly questionable when it comes to realism and believability. However, if you enjoy big, loud, in-your-face, man movies fuelled by fast-paced techno music then "Jumper" is an absolute must-see. Try not to read too much into the story. Just sit back and prepare to be entertained.
