Undead or Alive
by Jenny Jones

"Undead or Alive" is exactly what it claims to be from its very beginning, a zombie comedy set in the old wild west. It is no surprise that there are no oscar-winning performances in this movie, whose main stars are a regular from Saturday Night Live and a casr member from Desperate Housevives. However, in all fairness, James Denton plays the part of Elmer Winslow, and army deserter turned cowboy who is training to be a dentist, to a T. Similarly, Kris Kattan could steal the heart of any woman as Luke Budd, the dim-witted, heart-broken cowboy who partners up with Denton to fight an evil sheriff and an entire town of brain-craving zombies.

Just from the description of these two characters you get a pretty good idea of the entire plot and mood of this movie. In a word, it's cheesy. In fact, to say it is cheesy is an understatement but it was definitely entertaining too. With many strategically placed, corny, Bon-Jovi-like cowboy ballads throughout the soundtrack, the humour never stopped from beginning to end.

Overall, "Undead or Alive" was just plain old good clean fun... Well, okay, maybe not so clean. Things did get quite bloody and gory, even from the opening scene. But if you enjoy zombie movies and cheesy comedies, this movie is definitely worth watching.
