In 1973, 19-year-old Tommy is a gay rights activist and 24-year-old Alan is a politically conservative journalist who has written an unpublished anti-gay book, and yet Alan finds himself falling in love with Tommy, forcing to rethink his politics and "come out of the closet." The 1977 publication of his book, without his permission, however, ends their relationship. Then, in the 1980s, the duo gets a chance for a reunion in the form of a road trip to Mexico. |
