Perhaps the most iconic female hero ever, Wonder Woman is the DC Comics character whos been battling inequality with her Lasso of Truth since 1941. Earlier this year, she made her big screen debut in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Happily, this year, Wonder Woman (at last!) stars in her very own movie, which is huge. Its certainly moved on a tad from the dated apparel of the 70s TV series, although there are some likenesses.

Formerly known as Diana, princess of the Amazons, Wonder Woman was taught to be an invincible warrior. Brought up on a secluded island paradise, when a U.S. pilot crashed onto their coastline, informing them about a huge battle exploding in the outside world, Diana is on the case to find out exactly whats going on. Who Stars as Wonder Woman?

Gal Gadot takes the role of Wonder Woman. Shes been described by director Patty Jenkins as the kindest, strongest, smartest, most capable and badass human being. Gadot enjoyed playing the character, admitting it was an honour and a privilege. Watching the real interview with Princess Diana apparently inspired her in her role. She described the real Princess Diana as someone who leads from the heart, not from the head.

In terms of what Gadot (Wonder Woman) will be wearing, her costume will be red, blue and gold and shell sport a skirt as well as a crown on her head.

 

Who is Wonder Woman, Exactly?

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was originally Princess Diana, the demigoddess daughter of Hippolyta and Zeus. She grew up as a princess in the female-only village of the Amazons, living on the far-flung Paradise Island.

In Greek mythology, the Amazons were a group of female warriors, the group in which Princess Diana was brought up in by her mother Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen), General Antiope (Robin Wright) and Melanippe (Lisa Loven Kongsli) – to be a formidable fighter.

When an American intelligence officers plane crashes onto the island, Diane Prince (Wonder Woman) informs the princess theres a war in the mans world. Next, a competition is held to determine who should take Captain Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) back to the outside world and leave the island.

Princess Diana creates her double when she meets the anxious Diana Prince whos a nurse in the American army. Prince tells the princess that her and her fianc cant afford to go back to South America so Princess Diana then bestows her enough monies to enable her to travel there in return for Diana Princes identity.

 

Who Else Stars in the Movie?

Chris Pine takes the role of Steve Trevor, the first man Diana meets. Trevor is a super spy and government liaison to the Justice League, as well as Wonder Womans primary love interest. Also rumoured to be in the movie is Harry Potters David Thewlis, who takes the role as god of war, Ares. Also reported to feature in the film is Arnold Schwarzenegger.
