Three Classic Casino Movies

Posted on October 24th, 2019

There are many of us who enjoy a night out at our local casino – and many of us have been lucky enough to travel to Las Vegas and experience the casino action to be found on the Strip in one of the lavishly decorated establishments there.

Even if you don’t have a local bricks and mortar casino close to where you live, today there are high-quality online sites to enjoy, those that allow their players to use their mobile phones via payforit to fund their games and have pages dedicated to helping players understand how payforit deposits work – a far cry from the days when players may have been somewhat concerned about their security and safety whilst playing online.

The thrill and opulence of the casino environment whether a bricks and mortar venue or online has always been a draw so it’s no wonder that many of the most successful movies have been either centred about casino life, or have had memorable casino sets within them.

Some revel in the darkness of gambling, whilst others tell the tale of strategic card counting or maybe an amazing heist, but one thing they all have in common, they all have the high-octane atmosphere that only a gambling venue can offer.

For instance, there are not many of us that do not remember the remake of Casino Royale and the high-stake game of Texas Hold’em in Montenegro. Appealing to the fans of James Bond and casino lovers the famous line of ‘I’m sorry, that last hand—-nearly killed me’ will go down in casino history.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas with Johnny Depp playing Hunter S. Thompson who is accompanied by his crazy Samoan lawyer on a psychedelic toad trip across Western America heading to Las Vegas to cover a sporting event has all the ingredients for a classic movie – and it doesn’t fail.

Blowing a massive amount of money on drugs the object is to find ‘the American Dream’ and of course a wide selection of people and personalities are met on the way to Las Vegas which is portrayed as something very far away from ‘the American Dream.’

Casino directed by Martin Scorsese portrays the two faces of casino life. On one side is all the glamour and glitz, red carpets and bling whilst on the other side lurks the brutality and cruel dealings of the mob.

Robert De Niro plays a mob connected casino operator in Las Vegas and when his boyhood friend played by e Pesci who is a mafia lynchpin arrives in town life is never going to be the same again.

Money, power, deception, greed and all the violence that these things bring with them reign in this superbly dark movie – brilliantly acted and riveting to watch.
