    Uploading VOB trailers?

I hope this the right forum for this post…

I was planning on uploading some of the VOB trailers I have from my 550+ DVD
    collection.

But, I seem to have run into a snag…after I copy the VOB file to my hard drive,
it won’t play properly-sound and picture break up(I’m using Power DVD).
I’ve tried changing the properties in various combinations-nothing seems to
work. Is there a trick or secret to making these VOBs that I rip off my DVDs
work on my hard drive? Or, is it due to copy protection encryption software?
I’ve tried older DVD’s and they don’t work either.

How do you guys get your VOBs that you offer? Another source other than
    DVDs?

I would like to share all those trailers…suggestions anyone?

    Thanks

What are you using to rip the VOB?
    I suggest DVD Decrypter.

A better ripping program is DVD Shrink 3.2 (thanks Mark!)

Also, it might be what you are using to play the VOB. Try using mplayer classic (http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/). It will play just about anything.

    Rip VOB's?

Oh, I thought I could just copy the file(s) from the DVD to my hard drive. I'm able to copy them, they just won't play. I'm able to D/L VOB's from a certain FTP, which play fine. Is there something that I need to do to the VOB file to make them playable? What do I need to do to them before I start uploading them, so that when members D/L them, they will play OK on their PC's?

If you use DVD Decrypter, they will be playable.
    You can't just copy them.

Ahh...thanks. So, using DVD Decrypter I'll be able to play the copied VOBs off my hard drive?
And do I just upload the VOBs from my hard drive to the FTP site as is? Will other members who D/L my VOBs be able to play them? Why is it then that I can D/L VOBs and they play fine with my Power DVD?
I just want to get this right, so members will be able to play the trailers that I upload.
    Thanks for your help.
