UNKLESounds: Edit Music for a Film--Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Reconstruction was created for the "After Dark" event in the ICA, London. James Lavelle put together a mix of soundtracks from films that inspired him the most and this is the result: a seamless mix of some of the biggest tracks from the dancefloor interspersed with movie dialogue and well known film music. UNKLESounds: Edit Music for a Film... includes tracks and collaborations from Roots Manuva and Richard Ashcroft alongside original UNKLE compositions.unkle are back again with another fresh, new sound. the two cds, each with an hour mix, with samples drawn from various films, their previous two albums, and a lot of new stuff are a an insight into how good dance music really can be.
the cds contain collaberations with several class acts including; richard ashcroft, massive attack, mos def and dj shadow. and then you have the samples from the films, including music from elton john, nancy sinatra and moby. the diversity accross the two cds is stonking.
there are several good remixes/edits of existing unkle tracks including lonely soul and then my favourtie a drum n bass mix of safe in mind which already contained a sample from the film Fallen.
this album is up there with product placement (dj shadow + cut chemist) and the 2manydjs radio soulwax mix albums in terms of orginality. real trainspotters will have fun trying to spot all the original films. james lavelle and richard file have achieved something special here but if youve never heard of unkle then go and buy psyence fiction. if you own that then buy this.
