I'm sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but it looks like Ghostbusters 3 may be on again.
Apparently, all of the original cast has signed up (Sigourney Weaver, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson and Dan Aykroyd). Production could start as early as later this year.

I'm a huge Ghostbusters fan. I can't wait for the video game or the Blu-ray (wish the second film was coming out as well). But I cannot see them doing a third film. I love all the actors and everything, but they're just too old at this point (no offense intended toward them). And to get a younger cast might not be the greatest idea either. It would change their whole dynamic and everything. But who knows, if it is made maybe it will actually be good...

There is no news about Ghostbusters 3 yet,So we have to wait ......

It would be great if they make another GB movie even if not with the orginal cast. The script and special effects have to be good though. Maybe if they do something like what was done with the A-team.

I hear the project is dead in the water again for the umpteenth time!!
I fear that this movie will never be made, even without Bill Murray!!

After years of rumors, it appears that Ghostbuster 3 is finally moving forward and will likely do so with or without Bill Murray's involvement. Dan Aykroyd appeared on The Dennis Miller Show to discuss the project, dropping specific details about the sequel, hinting that the plan is to film in Spring of 2012 no matter what happens casting-wise.
"Yes, we will be doing the movie and hopefully with Mr. Murray," he says, "That is our hope. We have an excellent script. What we have to remember is that 'Ghostbusters' is bigger than any one component, although Billy was absolutely the lead and contributive to it in a massive way, as was the director and Harold [Ramis], myself and Sigourney [Weaver]. The concept is much larger than any individual role and the promise of 'Ghostbusters 3' is that we get to hand the equipment and the franchise down to new blood."
The comedian also confirmed reports that the plot will revolve around a new generation of Ghostbusters and hinted at the states of his and Ramis' characters.
"My character, Ray, is now blind in one eye and can't drive the cadillac," he says, "He's got a bad knee and can't carry the packs... Egon is too large to get into the harness. We need young blood and that's the promise. We're gonna hand it to a new generation."

I really hope so, Hardkore.
This is like the umpteenth time I've heard that Murray is on board, then he is over board, then he is back on board, etc etc
I am starting to feel this is one film that will never get made and will be stuck in development hell forever;
much like 2 other sequels stuck in development hell that I am still hoping will get made but I am not holding my breath anymore either:
The Brazilian Job
The Topkaki Affair

I really hope this gets made too. I like the concept but it has to be handled correctly and handed down to the right people...
