Movies filmed in your home town
Have you ever had a movie filmed in your home town?
I just remembered this fun little piece of IMDb that shows you filming locations.
http://imdb.com/LocationTree
Start with your country...narrow it down to your city. for additional fun, places you used to live, one town over where you visit sometimes. It's pretty neat.
They filmed a short bit of X-Men at a park in my town, as well as Confessions of a Teenage Dramaqueen. Oakville (one town over) has a longer list.
And I'm in London Ontario during the schoolyear, which has a really long one.

Well, Prague is well used for filmmaking. My father worked on the stage of Alien vs. Predator, he brought home burnt tale of Alien and one dead body of man with hole after Predator shot. Looks creepy realistic. Friend of mine was on the stage of Running scared. Lots of movies (C.Royale and Brothers Grimm) are filmed at Barrandov, which is kinda film part of Prague, my father in law works there in a TV station as chief of technics. You can see charles bridge quite often in filmshots (I guess most known is it for scene from xXx, where Diesel sinks under it with parachute), which is one of most known parts of Prague. In this part of the city where I live are only some czech films filmed, mostly in nearest subway stations.

dude, that's goddamn awesome! I'm so jealous.
Anyway, my home town....hehe....just one of those moments I just love to gloat over.
Well just about every other American movie is set in NY (although filmed in Toronto, damn you Toronto , )
25th Hour and Saturday Night Fever are set within a few blocks of where I live. House of D is set across the street from my HS. Countless crap is set at NYU. Also recently The Inside Man had a bunch of office scenes set at the World Financial Center.
There might be a few hundred more but I can't remember at the moment.
Humility is not my strong point.

Way Too Many
Great question,
I live in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, which has an absolutely amazing amount of movies that have been filmed here. I suppose it's perfect for providing a variety of locations. There is a downside to having so many movies filmed here and living here - you start noticing the locations that they're using and it sort of ruins that Suspension of Disbelief that movies are supposed to create. On the other hand, it can also be a fun exercise to guess the location if a movie's really boring.

haha yeah I agree.
In Spider-Man 2 everyone's going "oh cool Doc Ock is fighting Spidery on a subway", and I'm going "EVERYONE knows there's no elevated Bay Ridge-bound train in Manhattan...pfft....amateurs!"
lmao

Too many movies filmed in Montréal too. It's good for the industry.

I spent a lot of time a few days ago making a nice long entry for this post, and I don't see it. I don't know if it didn't take, or if it got deleted, or if maybe there was an error saving it. So, I am starting over from scratch and recreating it.
The town I was born in, Seymour, IN, had the 1992 Falling from Grace filmed there. I should probably mention that Seymour is the home of Johnny Mellencamp, and part of the music video for "Smalltown" was filmed in Seymour. Personally, I don't think of Seymour as being a "small town", it is the largest town I have lived in, although my current town of residence is catching up.
I moved away from there when I was 4, so consequently, I don't consider that my home town. While nothing was reported as being filmed in what I consider my hometown (Versailles, IN, where I lived nearly half my life), the nearby town of Milan, IN had a portion of the movie Hoosiers filmed there, which makes sense, since it that movie is losely based on events from that town, although a large portion of Hoosiers was filmed in Knightstown, IN, which is closer to where I live now. BTW, Milan and Versailles were so close, they were covered by the same small weekly newspaper, which also covered the nearby town of Osgood, and I spent a large portion of my childhood in all three towns, especially since my dad worked for that same newspaper.
In junior high/high school, I lived for a year in Lawrenceburg, IN. The 1943 movie Unusual Occupations was filmed there.
Then I lived for a year and a half in Port Allegany, Pennsyvania. While no movies were filmed there, Smethport (the next significant town to the west) had Rings Around the World from 1966 filmed there.
I moved back to the Versailles, IN area after that until I went to college, but nothing was filmed in the town where I went to college.
After college, I lived in Greensburg, IN. where the 1936 movie Can You Imagine was filmed. Strangely enough, Can You Imagine was also filmed in Coudersport, PA, which was the next significant town to the east of Port Allegany. Can You Imagine was kind of like Ripley's Believe it Or Not. I know why they were in Greensburg. They must have been filming the famous Greensburg Tower Tree which is "a tree that grows out of a courthouse's stone roof", according to the IMDB summary. The summary also mentions "a well shaft in Pennsylvania that freezes in summer and melts in cold weather". I am going to assume that was in Coudersport, but I could be wrong about that. Maybe it doesn't do that anymore because I don't remember hearing about it when I lived there.
Then I lived for a brief stint in Shelbyville, IN. There the 1998 The Quest for ____ was filmed. Also according to IMDB, the 1989 TV movie Ballbuster was filmed there (at least, I assume it is a TV movie and not a TV series).
I am currently living in Greenfield, IN. The 1986 movie Pushed Too Far was filmed in Greenfield. Actually, part of the movie was filmed in the house of some people I know. Also, the 2003 direct-to-video Oh, No! Zombies!!! was filmed in Greenfield. This would have been the only the second movie that I have mentioned that was filmed in the town that I lived in while I was living there (Hoosiers was filmed in Milan while I was living in Versailles). It isn't listed, but I think part of 2004's Saving Star Wars was also filmed in Greenfield.
My wife's hometown is Columbus, IN. There, part of the 2001 movie Madison was filmed.
Part of 1994's Shawshank Redemption was filmed in my dad's hometown of Upper Sandusky, Ohio (not to be confused with Sandusky, Ohio, which is about 60 miles away). 2005's direct-to-video Custody was filmed in Wooster, Ohio, my mom's hometown.
The 1997 movie Addicted to Love was filmed where my mom and step-father currently live in Swarthmore, PA (near Philadelphia).
I think that about sums it up.
