Anyone know about the U.K. "St. Trinian's" films ?
Anyone here familiar with a series of U.K. films made in the mid 50s to the early 60s about a school for girls involving crime, comical capers, drinking and gambling?
The reason I am asking is they are planning a remake with Keira Knightley and I want to know more about it.
# The Belles of St Trinian's (1954, the first film)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0046766/
# Blue Murder at St Trinian's (1957, the second film)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0051423/
# The Pure Hell of St Trinian's (1960, the third film)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055342/
# The Great St Trinian's Train Robbery (1966, the final film of the quartet)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060476/
from the reviews posted at IMDB, it seems these films were controversial and risque at the time of their release!!

I vaguely remember seeing a couple as a kid, they may have had a Y classification in NZ (recommended for people over age 13) They would be considered very tame these days. Just about anything shown now would have been considered controversial and risque 50 years ago, but by the same token political correctness had not been invented either.
It is also possible that I saw them at too young an age and didn't get the risque bits or understand any controversy.Last edited by Oldfart; 11-03-2006 at 10:21 PM. Reason: afterthought added [2nd paragraph]
