New technologies on disc storage media
I was just looking for some info on Wikipedia about the DVD-RAM format and I found this:
- Tapestry Media, discs with same size as DVD but 300 GB in capacity (in theory, this technology can store 1.6 TB). State: "It will go on sale in late 2006 or early 2007..."
- Holographic Versatile Disc, HVD, 3.9 Terabytes in each disc. State: In research but discs have been announced to be presented soon
- Protein-coated disc, 50 Terabytes on one disc. State: unknown
- Two-Photon 3-D Optical Data Storage, 1 TB. State: In development
HVD (from Wikipedia)Last edited by jmcc; 12-18-2006 at 12:26 PM.
