OK, I realize that this is WAAAY off topic, but anyone who treats a goldfish like that should be ashamed of themselves.

A one-gallon, unfiltered bowl is no place for a goldfish (to be fair, that might be a two-gallon bowl, or maybe even 3 gallons, I can't tell for sure, but still way too small with no filtration). That is about like keeping a kitten in a large shoe box 24/7.

Goldfish are somewhat messy fish and need 10 to 20 gallons each and heavy filtration (some sources argue you need as much as 40 or 50 gallons per goldfish).

But properly cared for, a goldfish can live 20 years or more and don't deserve the reputation of being a disposable pet that they have earned.
