Myers, who stars as the mischievous feline, tells the newspaper that he was always a fan of the 1957 classic. But it was the modern-day take on the book that persuaded him to take the part.

"Not only is The Cat in the Hat my favorite children's book, it's one of the best scripts I've read in years," he says. "It's a huge honor to be part of a brilliant cast and a team of filmmakers dedicated to making a children's classic.".
Jim Carrey could have been a better choice....no?

I was once asked in a e-mail movie survey as a CountingDown movie editor to state my opinion about this project. They were asking who would be better for the part - Mike Myers or Eddie Murphy. Since I never read the book I figured that Murphy feels better, cause ofhis cate-like moves. But I guess this cat is not really that kind of a cat.

From The Cat in the Hat Set. According to our scooper, filming begins tomorrow (10/25/02). The scooper also informs us that the set is in Pomona, CA, not Simi Valley as previously reported.
