Lightbulb WebOS - online operating systems

    WebOS definition (or webtop):

WebOS is a virtual operating system that runs in your web browser.
The next article by frantic industries shows us 10 WebOS, maybe some of them are not fully finished.

    The beginning of the article:

Big WebOS roundup - 10 online operating systems reviewed
Published December 21st, 2006 in Features, Web 2.0, Web, Reviews Tags: online OS, web, web 2.0, WebOS.

While we’re waiting for Google to launch its own Google OS (if the rumours are true, of course), I’ve checked out 10 web operating systems and what they can do. Not many of them feel like finished and fully usable products, but there are some true gems among them.
Admit it: you didn’t think there were that many WebOSes around, did you?...
    It continues here.

    The 10 WebOS are:

How do you get your PC to boot up and detect your hardwares and connect you to the internet if these OS are online?

If your internet crashes; do you lose the OS and does your computer crashes too?

    Question WebOS

I don't know exactly how this works. I am just discovering it.

By the way, check also this Wikipedia article about online operating systems.

Other OS of this kind not listed before:

    - WebtopOS, wikipedia (?)
    - G.ho.st, wikipedia (?)
    - eXo Enterprise WebOS

    Explore this with caution.

Sorry, just to keep the three threads with the maximun info possible. I believe that this fits inside those three threads well. I am just thinking on users who maybe can visit one of the threads and not the others, so they will get the info if that happens

hmm... this reeks of an agenda. not interested. i prefer to keep my internet habits to myself as well as what is installed on my machine. im sure there are back doors galore using a system to run your machine that is web-based. just imagine what M$ could do .... heck, imagine what a novice hacker could do with all your registry up on someone's webserver.

    thanks....but no thanks.

No, in the case of Wubuntu it is somekind of a demo that you will run only from the web page. It will not access your machine red bear. But since I am not entirely sure, do what you believe will be the better thing.

Wubuntu seems to be a mostly flash-based file that shows what Ubuntu looks like, and lets you run Firefox (which is a tad odd, you use a web browser to go to a webpage to use a web browser). As jmcc said, it is a demo. It isn't intended to give you a full working environment (or if that is their intent, they have fallen short).

Personally, I think a LiveCD is much better than this, but if you don't want to go through the trouble of obtaining a LiveCD, then this gives you a glimpse at what it looks and feels like, even if it is extremely limited.
