(Next to The Dark Knight, Indy 4 & Rambo, my most anticipated movie of 2008. Hope I'll like it better than Across the Universe - which is not terrible, mind you.)

They encoded this one at 29.97 so it plays smoother and it's actually watchable. Still doesn't look as good as a 24 fps trailer though, here's hoping they get it together!

EDIT: Just watched the new 'Nim's Island' trailer 'C' and they seem to have got rid of the jerkiness at 23.98 fps!

Just to set the record straight for Crash and everyone else:"

I just post the 'play jerky' alert by default with every Yahoo trailer post. On my 4-year-old PC I can't have smooth playback of any HD trailers anyway, so I can't personally tell if any particular one 'plays jerky'.

The 'tasteless hack' remark is not my word. I'm simply quoting.

There are better versions at Cinemas Online, but lately they've been a right pig to get direct links from.

Cinemas Online labeled it the "teen" trailer and actually looks the part. Here are links to .flv versions from them and the official site, although I wouldn't call them better exactly (larger sizes, worse encoding):

That's because you rely way too much on one website for all those UK trailer links, and when they no longer make those Quicktime trailer files they ported from other sources (easily) accessible, you're royally screwed.

The fact is, ASAIK, most of those UK trailers of Hollywood studio films are encoded and originally hosted on various PR agency sites (green-room, wire9, waytoblue, thinkjam, etc). Unless you're subscribed to their services, or that you're a UK journalists/film reviewers/site owner whose website has something with movies and the studios are willing to feed you the links, you won't be able to directly get to those trailer links, except relying on porting links from other websites where the direct links have already been posted, or by second guessing.

That Mamma Mia teen trailer (UK/Int'l trailer #2) is definitely sourced from thinkjam. And here're the Quicktime direct links (you have to right click and save):

    hi-res (9.34MB) http://video.thinkjam.com/?h=8d408fb...3370&q=hi&m=qt
    med-res (6.52MB) http://video.thinkjam.com/?h=8d408fb...370&q=med&m=qt
    low-res (2.42MB) http://video.thinkjam.com/?h=3f525ba...9728&q=lo&m=qt

(That's 24 hours of hard-core online research for ya... no it isn't. But I didn't have any sleep last night more or less because of this, hence made a lot of typos in the original post. Thanks to you, IGT.)

BTW saw it in cinema last Saturday. I've never seen the stage play, for which I regret it till this day. I thought storywise, the movie adaptation is a bit thin. Because of the screen time limitatiion, the focus seems to be how Donna resolves her relationship with one of her flames particularly, and hence the ending feels a bit forced to me. I wonder if the stage version, with more time, gave a more satisfactory resolution on Donna's relationships with the other two guys, which get sidetracked to nothing in the movie.

Not to say I don't enjoy the film. But I feel part of the story is missing. I know, however, the two ladies sitting next to me had fun seeing the flick.
