What is this movie called?

Sorry for me asking this, but I cannot remember the name of this movie that I saw years ago.

First of all, if you've seen the trailer for The Blind Side, then this movie is really similar to the one I can't remember.

I saw this on TV about three or so years ago, it's about a tall and kind of big white boy who's in high school. His neighbor is a crippled boy who uses crutches to move around. I think he had a problem with his back, but he ends up dying in the end. Well anyways, they become really good friends, and the big guy would carry the crippled boy on his shoulders. Other random stuff I can remember is that the big guy sees the crippled boy while at a basketball tryout at there school. I'm not sure on that but I think they do. Also they find a purse or wallet and return it to the owner...then they find out they know the owners wallet (its a female, I know that). She looks like a hooker in my opinion.
