THE NUMBERS GAME

Among the big line-up of new movies for 2003 is more of what you liked before. Add a “2” to the following familiar titles for these sequels: The Jungle Book, Jeepers Creepers, Legally Blonde, Tomb Raider, Bad Boys, X-Men, The Fast and the Furious, The Whole Nine Yards and Shrek.
Also coming up are Dumb and Dumber: The Prequel, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolution, Terminator 3: The Rise of the Machines, Exorcist: The Beginning, American Pie 3, Spy Kids 3 and, of course, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.


THEY WAS ROBBED!

How often have you felt that one of your favourite movie performances was overlooked when Oscar time came around? US magazine, Entertainment Weekly has published what they consider the 100 most notable performances that did not even receive nominations. Figuring in their top 10 are people like James Stewart in Vertigo, Ingrid Bergman in Casablanca, Susan Sarandon in Bull Durham, Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz, Samuel L Jackson in Jungle Fever and Anthony Perkins in Psycho. Other actors who appear on their list and who also received the cold shoulder include Matt Damon in The Talented Mr Ripley, Johnny Depp in Ed Wood, Malcolm McDowell in A Clockwork Orange, Ewan McGregor in Moulin Rouge, Nicole Kidman in The Others and Eddie Murphy in The Nutty Professor
