The Film

Hanna (Ronan) is a teenage girl. Uniquely, she has the strength, the stamina, and the smarts of a solider; these come from being raised by her father (Bana), an ex-CIA man, in the wilds of Finland. Living a life unlike any other teenager, her upbringing and training have been one and the same, all geared to making her the perfect assassin. The turning point in her adolescence is a sharp one; sent into the world by her father on a mission, Hanna journeys stealthily across Europe while eluding agents dispatched after her by a ruthless intelligence operative with secrets of her own (Ms. Blanchett). As she nears her ultimate target, Hanna faces startling revelations about her existence and unexpected questions about her humanity.

Oh God. THIS movie. I was at a test screening of this early last month. I will not lie to you when I say that it was one of the most disjointed films I've EVER seen. It's not a BAD movie, but at times it feels like it's having an identity crisis and can't decide what kind of movie it wants to be. As for the acting, Eric Bana and Saoirse Ronan (the girl who plays Hanah) were great,but Cate Blanchet comes off as bored and her character is cliche as hell.

Overall, it has one or two fun moments of action (well, just one, actually; the scene where she escapes from the underground facility was REALLY cool), but not enough to keep people interested, and the big revelation at the end is spoiled WAY too early on, not to mention kinda lame (same goes for the climax, which is way too short and predictable). I think this'll probably end up getting panned by critics and will end up being one of the least enjoyable films of 2011. I'm sorry, but I REALLY don't recommend seeing it to ANYONE.
