2001: A Space Odyssey.... WHY?

I just watched the 2001 Blu Ray DVD for the first last night, using my 1080p projector, projected onto the 100 inch screen build onto the wall of my entertainment room, and it's the most beautiful 2001 movie experience I'd ever had!!

I went to IMDB and it seems there are many people who didn't like the movie or found the movie boring or thought the movie was a 2 1/2 hrs waste of their time!!

Why is that?

Why are there so many people who don't like 2001, who don't appreciate the beauty of this masterpiece, or who don't understand it?

I think Kubrick is a bit like Dave Lynch. He tried to push the boundaries of modern film storytelling using innovative techniques. Sometimes, this doesn't work for everyone. Sometimes, this annoyed his very cast and crew. Like him or love him, just like david lynch, he tried to push things.
