    David Fincher leaves M:I 3

    http://www.comingsoon.net/cgi-bin/ar...6243011,68429,

Paramount Pictures has tapped Narc director Joe Carnahan to helm Mission: Impossible 3 following the withdrawal of David Fincher. Variety reports the studio is in negotiations with Carnahan over the third installment, to be produced by Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner via their Paramount-based C/W Prods. with Cruise portraying agent Ethan Hunt.

Fincher had been attached to "M:I-3" since early last year but recently committed to direct The Lords of Dogtown, centering on the surf and skate culture that took root in the 1970s, for Sony.

Robert Towne remains attached to pen the script for the third film. Dean Georgaris, who penned the "Lara Croft" sequel, Paycheck and The Manchurian Candidate, also has been mentioned as a likely scripting candidate recently.

ohh damn now the movie will suck.... i was hoping a CGI galore and cool camera angles/shots in M:I 3 now its all gone

Indeed. Fincher seemed a very wise move from the studio but now I'm not sure but Joe Carnahan does have potential as antone who has seen Narc can testify.

DreamWorks Looks to Fincher for "The Lookout"

DreamWorks Pictures is looking to land David Fincher to direct the thriller "The Lookout". Talks are ongoing for the "Panic Room" helmer to board "Lookout", which has attracted such A-list talent as Sam Mendes, Brad Pitt, Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio.

The project centers on a young man who is rendered quasi-disabled by short-term memory loss in the wake of a car accident. He is then befriended by a local gangster who wants assistance in robbing a bank.

In other Fincher news, the director has apparently turned his attention away from "Lords of Dogtown" at Columbia Pictures.

Does the last sentance of the article mean that he's no longer involved in Lords of Dogtown?
You're waiting for a train, a train that will take you far away. You know where you hope this train will take you, but you can't be sure. But it doesn't matter - because we'll be together.

Would he just make up his mind!

I would be pleased if he didn't do Lords of Dog Town because I don't think he'd be able to do better than Dog Town and Z-Boys.

Fincher would have been perfect after DePalma and Woo (and logical). Now the franchise has a problem to be unique.

    Dang!

I came across this thread while searching for David Fincher The Game.

I didn't know Fincher was originally slated to direct MI:3.

So they replaced Fincher with that Hack, Abrams?

    Bad move!

    Bad move indeed!
