WILL THIS UNREAL PERFORMANCE GET AN OSCAR ® NOMINATION?

It’s possible that one of the nominations for an Oscar next year could be for a performance by an actor whose character is completely computer-generated. The makers of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers are campaigning for it to happen. The character in question is the Gollum, a creature that guides the plucky Hobbits, Frodo and Sam to the dark lands of Mordor. Gollum is voiced by actor, Andy Serkis and, as director, Peter Jackson remarks, “The performance is really driven by Andy. He deserves a nomination for a Supporting Actor Oscar and we are going to campaign for him to get one.”
