Makers of Twinkies to shut down

Looks like the end of an era! The makers of the famous snack food Twinkies is shutting down. Lots of labor issues, funding issues, and more financial issues.

No longer will we be treated to cakes rumored to be able to survive the apocalypse! (actually they only last 25 Days)

Here are a couple of movie clips in honor of the snack.

    Zombieland

    Ghostbusters

Plenty of unemployed Americans who will gladly take a job there but no, they want to use Unions.

Hostess and other American companies will increase their bottom lines by not using Union employees.

    This is sad.

Even their website is shut down.

I was at the grocery store today and where the Hostess product has always been, it's been cleaned out.

I can't believe this... Hostess products are being sold on ebay right now for pretty insane amounts!

And to think, 5 minutes ago, I was eating a Suzie Q.

There's something pretty depressing about all of this...

Well, I bet all those people on EBay who paid more than $10 for a box of Twinkies must be feeling like idiots now:

Well, nothing has changed yet. And frankly, I don't understand how a judge can tell a business they can't close.

The judge doesn't care about the company.

    He/She on the Union's side.

Actually, since the courts have to approve a Chapter 11 proceeding they can request anything they want, in this case to have the union work out a deal in good faith.
Unfortunately, since this will be the second Chapter 11 filing, I doubt very much that the company will survive as we know it today. They will need to scale down, get concessions from the unions, and sell major assets in order to make it through.

I can't see through walls, but I can kick your ass.

While the company was in debt and going bankrupt, the CEO and Management of the company gave themselves massive raises and benefit plans!

    Bastards!!

I've still been trying to find a box of twinkies at my local stores to no avail!

In the end, Twinkies will surivive. It is too iconic a brand to go away. Expect them to be produced by another company, along with the other top hostess varieties. Heard a mexican company is interested (sugar was cheaper for them, which was an one of the issues that brought down hostess).

There is talk that Grupo Bimbo of Mexico (although they deny it) maybe buying out Hostess.

Grupo Bimbo also owns the following American companies, formerly owned by Americans and founded by Americans and American Immigrants:

Mrs. Baird's bakery, Sara Lee, Entenmann's bakery, Thomas' English Muffins and Bagels, Oroweat and Stroehmann.

Typical American mentality: let's take a good product or idea or company and sell it for a quick buck.

That's how this country lost out on the VHS.

The idea and concept and manufacturing rights were sold to a Japanese company (JVC) for a quick buck!

Don't believe what you read on Wiki that VHS was developed by JVC, it wasn't!

This is what makes me mad:

They are back in store tomorrow nationwide and supposedly Wal Mart got them early on Friday at selected stores and every one of their U.S. stores should have them today:
