Columnists Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith report that former NYPD Blue star Rick Schroder aims to make his feature-directing debut with Black Cloud, the saga of an American Indian Golden Gloves fighter from a reservation who makes it to the Olympics in Greece.

The project is already turning into a financing phenomenon. "I've gotten funding from the Chickasaws and Cherokees in Oklahoma, and I'm talking to tribes in Palm Springs and Colorado about contributing," says Rick. "The casino tribes are really behind this film," he notes.

He adds, "The film is sort of based on a true story with several Native American fighters from reservations trying to make a movie about the Olympics."
