Just out of curiosity were either of these titles IN STOCK when you posted this... I'm going to assume they will show up closer to the release date.

Did not ever expect to see a retail wide release of a Disney steelbook. Even though the series airs on Disney+; I expected this series in addition LOKI and WandaVision to be a Best Buy US exclusive. The girl at the CINEMA 1 store said she was told they would probably getting these title also; granted they were not yet listed on her computer. But it looks likes times may be changing at Disney; hopefully this will carry over to Disney steelbook exclusives.

As to the why? I'm not sure apart from being lapsed series from Disney+ for the most part.
Disney Streaming platforms need to increase profits pretty fast, so what better way than releasing Streaming exclusive series for everyone to own.
It's being released in 4K UHD, 2K BD in both SteelBook and Standard HD Cases, in addition to a Standard DVD copy to boot.

The only exception which went to Best Buy US as an exclusive is "Prey," which is a bummer, but Hey!!!

Disney Streaming platforms and the Disney Co. as a whole need to increase profits pretty fast if this means releasing streaming exclusive series for everyone to own I am all for it. Granted, at this point I am not that particular if I got a steelbook and/or regular bluray case of Mandalorian, LOKI, WandaVision and any other Disney+ series on steelbook. So long as I got my hands on a tangible copy so I do not have worry about them being removed from streaming like the series Willow. Hopefully they also release mini-series like the The Imagineering Story and Light & Magic (TV series). As for the Prey steelbook I was hoping it would Best Buy US exclusive but like you stated it is a bummer.

Best Buy CAN has the 4K UHD Steelbooks and a 2K Bluray Steelbook of The Mandalorian - Season 1 & Season 2 for online pre-order granted the site states that it is sold out. I am glad I reserved a 2K Bluray of both The Mandalorian - Season 1 and 2 at CINEMA 1 before because Best Buy CAN did not show any interest in selling this collector steelbook before.
