    Bill Murray To Voice Garfield

    From www.countingdown.com:

May 28, 2003 — In an absolutely brilliant voice casting move, Bill Murray has signed on to be the voice of Garfield for 20th Century Fox. The movie, based on the comic strip, features a sardonic cat who must tolerate the indignity of being saddled with a nebbish owner (Breckin Meyer) and a nitwit dog as housemates.
    From filmforce.ign.com:

May 28, 2003 - According to today's Variety, comic actor Bill Murray will lend his voice to the big-screen adaptation of Garfield. The live-action film will see the lasagna-loving feline created using computer animation with Murray giving life to the cat's trademark dry wit.

Based on the comic by Jim Davis, the film will focus on the sibling rivalry between Garfield and his canine companion Odie. Breckin Meyer plays the pets' owner Jon and Jennifer Love Hewitt stars as Dr. Liz Wilson. Stephen Tobolowsky also appears in the film.

Peter Hewitt (The Borrowers, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey) is directing. He recently completed Thunderpants, which stars Harry Potter's Ron Weasley, Rupert Grint.

Garfield was penned by Toy Story writers Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow.

Murray will fill the shoes of the late Lorenzo Music, who provided the voice of the cartoon cat for nearly a decade on various Garfield TV specials and the Garfield and Friends animated series.

I think Murray is a good choice. What's your opinion?

Re: Bill Murray To Voice Garfield

    OMG!

Considering Lorenzo Music is now in heaven, this is a decent choice.

(At least it's better to see Bill in Charlie's Angels 2)

Ghostbusters is one of editman fav movies of all time, even though my fav character is Egon.

Just as long as Fox don't dump the movie down to the moronic level with 8-year-old appeal, editman will be happy to see Garfield on the big screen.

"The idea was to be a symbol. editman could be anybody, that was the point."

Bill Murray works. I like Breckin Meyer, although not neccesarily as Jon... this movie could work nicely... as long as they don't gutterize it.
