    what's your preferred image size for trailers?

    Folks, editman's moving into the next phrase of contributions: converting vob trailers to QT format myself.

    Before I start posting I wanna know what sort of image size people prefer the trailers to be converted to, cos I know some like it huge, while others like to spend less time to DL long trailer made before the 80s.

    So I wanna have some rule of thumbs ideas, for both widescreen and full-frame trailers.

    fullscreen = 640x480
    widescreen = 720x... (source is anmorphic) or 640x... (source is non-anamorphic)

    that way you get the best results

    Those sizes are fine if your comps Tisoys but not everyone can play them back. Try not to resize them too much, just open the uncompressed avi in QT pro and it'll tell you the size, round it off to the nearesr multiple of 4 but hen leave it alone. The res is no better when you make it full screen.

    normal quicktime trailers range from 480*272 on the apple site.. i like these there not DVD quality.. but they are good enough for me .. as long as it has a good frame rate and not too pixelated!

    Stuff that. If a trailer's worth doing in quicktime it's worth doing well. I don't want no apple trailers, I want the good encoding that allows perfect playback of large trailers even on my humble 800MHZ processor.

    it doesn't really matter. 640 is kewl but bigger is always better....
    as long as it is at a good res and QT !!!

    I'd vote for the 640 x 480

    Thanks, everyone. Looks like 640 width for full-frame and 720 width for widescreen is the way to go.

    Well since I've got a crappy PII at home, if it plays okay on my box it should play well in everyone's.

    I'm gonna do some tests in the following days. If I succeed, expect everything* from my vob trailer list in QT format posted here... :big grin:
