Fans Steal 168 X2 Posters in 15 Cities
Monday, April 28, 2003 1:07 CDT
The USA Today says there's a new way to measure fan excitement about a movie: Theft. The same thing happened with the Spider-Man posters when they were posted in cities, now it's happening to X2 posters...
Since unveiling the posters for its new movie X2: X-Men United, distributor 20th Century Fox has seen 168 of the advertisements stolen from bus stops — including the stop in front of Fox's Los Angeles studios.
"We're thrilled that fans are that excited about the movie," which opens Friday, says Jeffrey Godsick, Fox's executive vice president of marketing. "But those one-sheets aren't cheap."
Police have reported 168 posters — valued at $40 apiece — were snatched over the past week from buildings and bus shelters in 15 cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Detroit and Chicago.

The poster looks pretty plain, why would people steal it?
On the other hand, if it was big picture of Kelly Hu or Halle Berry, I would understand completely. If you can stay calm, while all around you is chaos...then you probably haven't completely understood the seriousness of the situation.

You know that the Posters are Proberty of the FIlm Company and are giving away only for Promotion and then after the movie they "have" to give them back to the movie company....
My Brother told me that only 45 % of the Posters and Merchandise they give away for the Cinemas are coming back.....
Thats 55% stolen
