    Monica Bellucci on "THE PASSION"

    http://www.latinoreview.com/films_20...interview.html

Have you seen the finished version of THE PASSION?

Bellucci: No, I would to. I’m so curious, it’s like the international version of “Irreversible.”

Is Mel Gibson still working on it?

Bellucci: Yeah, we just finished about 2 months ago.

Do you think it would come out for a Christmas release?

Bellucci: Nope, I don’t think so. It’s too violet, very violet.

Do you think it will be very controversial?

Bellucci: I don’t know, it’s so funny, I hear that everybody is talking about the film being controversial and nobody has seen the movie. Visually it’s going to be something beautiful and strong, but the story…we all know this story, I don’t understand what can be so controversial. It (the story) won’t be any different.

The controversial issue is that the Jews killed Christ

Belluci: It’s not the Jews that killed Christ. I mean it was a political situation, and it was the Romans who killed Jesus you know? They put Jesus on the cross, not the Jews. And we are going to see what happens you know?

You think this controversial issue is a build up to sell tickets?

Bellucci: Its good for us [laughs], I mean Irreversible did well with controversial. I have nothing against controversial. [Continues laughing]

the international version of “Irreversible.” ??!?!? .. Mel what have you done?

I'm looking forward to this film very much. I'm not even bothered by the language issue as we all know the story very well. I think it would be very interesting to see it in the two languages that were spoken by the people at that time. I've never had the fortune of attending a Mass in Latin and I think that this will be something really cool. I think that Mel Gibson will be able to pull it off. He's a devote Catholic and I have a feeling this project as become very personal and a work of love on his part.
You're waiting for a train, a train that will take you far away. You know where you hope this train will take you, but you can't be sure. But it doesn't matter - because we'll be together.

I think it's a mistake to release this movie without at least subtitles. I don't know the story, and I know I'm not alone in wanting to know what's going on.
If you can stay calm, while all around you is chaos...then you probably haven't completely understood the seriousness of the situation.

Try watching a Shakespeare play based off the original text. It's tough to understand, but you can certainly understand what's going on through tone, body language and whatnot. Removing the language communication only helps to show how useful other methods are.
