Artisan Pictures has announced that it has picked up North American distribution rights for the already filmed HOUSE OF THE DEAD and soon-to-be-filmed ALONE IN THE DARK horror movies. HOUSE OF THE DEAD, based on the SEGA video game series, is now scheduled for a Fall 2003 release; principal photography on ALONE IN THE DARK starts in July. A release date for ALONE hasn't been announced.

HOUSE OF THE DEAD, written by Dave Parker and Mark Altman, stars Jurgen Prochnow (DAS BOOT), Clint Howard (APOLLO 13), Ellie Cornell (HALLOWEEN 4) and Jonathan Cherry (FINAL DESTINATION 2). Prochnow plays a boat captain who transports a group of young adults over to a island only to find that the dead are waiting for them. The kids weekend rave soon turns into their personal grave.
