I'm already planning on doing an essay for each of the episodes of Sin City when the DVD comes out. This'll be fun...

Sin City. Very Well made movie. Extremely interesting how the film makers stayed so close to the comic book.
Mickey Rourke DID steal this movie. Although Clive Owen and Carla Gugino were also very good.

    5/5.

    The Aviator - 4/5

They only thing I knew about Hughes was the Spruce Goose and that he had a complusive disorder. The film shed a lot of light on his life. It's too bad the man had the demons he did as he seemed to be a great visionary.

While waiting for Sin City (damn film won't come out Down Under till after Sith comes out! )...

Went to see Aliens of the Deep in 3D. Compared to Ghost of the Abyss, this one have much more outstanding 3D effects (by that I mean there are more shots in this one that give you the 3D perspective than the other one.) Hell even the Europa CG sequence is stunning (so that's what it's like in space!... gee I wish I'd seen Space Station 3D).

Also saw The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, I don't know why the critics panned it, I personally found it more preferable than The Royal Tenanbaums (haven't seen Rushmore and only half of Bottle Rocket). Perhaps cos I can relate myself to Steve Zissou's character - what's once enjoyable adventures has became phony routines and all he needs is to feel alive again - maybe I'm getting old... And thank God Cate Blanchett played the reporter part instead of Nic Kidman or Gwynie Paltrow.

    Be Cool - 4/5

Great performances all around and some really good laughs. I wasn't a fan of Get Shorty but I did enjoy the second go round.

    Elektra

i dunno what to say but i've been warned by chris, editman and others that this film ain't so good. well, they where all right, this film isn't good. i liked the daredevil and the director's cut even more but elektra isn't as good as the daredevil theatrical version and it has no chance with the director's cut.
if you still wanna check it out you may consider a rent but a purchase for full price this film is a no go. the dvd itself is good so atleast fox did this part right

anyway, here is my rating for elektra: 2/5

    ps...

    source: imdb.com
In an interview with UK's Empire Online, director Rob Bowman stated that the original director's cut was a R-rated film and he had to tone the film down (due to contractual obligations).
i have a feeling this one will come soon on dvd

    Sahara - 2.5/5

Was really expecting much and that's pretty much what I got. They could have cut about 30 minutes off the film.

I saw two great movies over the weekend.

THE TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE (*****) Directed By John Huston

Great movie with outstanding characters. DVD had amazing extras including 12 classic Bogart trailers, as well as a couple of Bugs Bunny cartoons(?).

THE BLOOD OF A POET (****) Directed By Jean Cocteau

I was very impressed with this film. I had never heard of it, but I knew of Cocteau so I gave it a try. I had not, however, previously seen any of Cocteau's films so I did not know what to expect. I was blown away. It was very surrealistic much in the same manner as Louis Bunuel's Un Chien Andalou. This was the first film in the Orphic Trilogy, so I will definitly check out the others.
    Highly recommended WTF movie.

It won't be a must see until it's the "overly protective directors UN-cut version"

Good point. And for the record, I would stand on line to get that one!
