Soleil Rouge aka Red Sun (1971)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067770/

This is a forgotten, little known Western film starring Bronson, Mifune, Delon and Andress.

Good movie until the end which left me puzzled on why they chose to conclude a good story with a cookie cutter Western movies ending.

It's like the screenwriters ran out of steam or the producers ran out of money and shooting time so let's hurry up and wrap it up.

This was funny even if it's a rehash of every 'teenager trying to lose their virginity' movies you'd ever seen!

    Gravity (2013)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1454468/

Visually impressive and that's all there is to it.

Most of the physics and space depicted in it is all wrong!!

My good friend of 15 years: a former engineer and doctor, a lifetime astrologist, and former consultant for NASA will have a great many good laughs when he sees this movie!

    4/5 for the visual

    2/5 for the story

and a major F for the physics and depiction of space

    Haha! This was funny!

If you were a Seinfeld and/or Curb Your Enthusiasm fan, you will like this movie!

Also I finally got around to watch

    Despicable Me 2 (2013)

It's even cuter than the first one!

The best part in the movie is still:

If you like the minions, have you seen this?

    Paranoia (2013)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1413495/

What the heck was the point of this movie?

Whose idea was to pick the director of The Ugly Truth, Legally Blonde and Killers (Ashton Kutcher, Katherine Heigl) to do a high tech corporate espionage film?

    1/5

    2 Guns (2013)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1272878/

What a waste of talent: Wahlberg, Washington, Paxton, Ward, Olmos, Patton, Marsden, Burke!

This should had been a direct to video DVD.

After all, it felt more like a B movie than an A movie!

    Syrup (2013)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0762138/

Based on a best selling satirical book about consumerism and marketing, this movie is so bad I will have to give it 2/5

The only good thing about this film was Amber Heard.

This is the second film I've seen in the past 2 days starring Amber Heard, the other being Paranoia.

How can Amber be so hot?

I was expecting a sci-fi action film like District 9.

Instead we got a Fakking Liberal Propaganda movie about Obamacare!

I will never watch another Neill Blomkamp and Matt Damon movie ever again!

Wow. I guess you see what you want to see. I never once thought about the American health system when watching this movie. Probably because I'm not an American. But I think mostly because it wasn't directed or written by an American. If anything this movie was more an indictment towards third world countries where the difference between the rich and the poor is at an extreme.

But I guess every movie is meant to be subjective. Therefore I shall leave it at that.

Personally I would give the movie a 6.5/10. Not quite as engaging as Blomkamp's 'District 9', but still solid movie nontheless.

Yes, and let's not forget that the Original "Gone in 60 Seconds" is actually a movie about Auto Insurance Rates.

On a serious note, I tend to agree with the segment shown on AMC in respect to Elysium, this being Bloomkamp's second directoral effort, it's nothing more than a variation of the "District 9" storyline.

I can't see through walls, but I can kick your ass.

Riveting, tense thriller asking how far would a parent would go to find his missing daughter.

As a Father myself, I would had done the exact same thing Hugh Jackman's character did in this film and MORE!! Much Much MORE!!.

    4.5/5

I would had given it to 5/5 but the screenwriters were not imaginative enough.

There should had been more depiction of brutal torture inflicted on the sick bastard!

Anyone who hurts children gets no sympathy or mercy from me.

After 2 1/2 years, I've finally got around to watching

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1298650/

I thought the 1st three films were bad.

    This one is even worse.

Even Penelope Cruz couldn't save this movie.

Keira was not the best of actress but at least you could understand the English words out of her mouth.

    Penelope?

    Not so much!

Her English is so broken and poor and so incomprehensible without the help of text subtitles, you just have to wonder who she's been sucking off to get roles in Hollywood all these years.

Additionally, the parts in the film showing the abuse and mistreatment of the mermaids was totally unnecessary!!

This movie is directed at kids and pre-teens and teens?

    What are we teaching them?

To mistreat and abuse and kill people because they are different?

It's no wonder why so many kids are being bullied in school and on Twitter and Facebook and some of them are even driven to suicide!

Furthermore, every time after I've watched one of these Pirates movies, I feel like I need to take a long hot shower afterward.

The characters in the movie just look filthy and they give you that filthy unbathed yucky feeling!

I hope they don't make any more of these rancid slimey movies!

    This movie supports my past statement that a big box office earners doesn't always necessarily a good film make;

it's just further evidence that movie audience nowadays are sheep!

They flock to noisy big budget CGI ridden films the same way flies are attracted to poop while many small budget and independent celluloid gems go unnoticed at the box office.

    Shield of Straw (2013)

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2347144/

Another masterpiece by renowned Japanese director Takashi Miike.

The story is similar to the 2003 film "SWAT" except the Japanese do it better, with more heart, more soul, more human touch and great exposition without the unnecessary big special effects, explosions laced, implausible Hollywood action set pieces.
