Whats the name of this action-comedy movie?

All I can remember is the opening plot. The movie should be between 2000 and 2011 (pretty sure) and here's what I remember: Young dude is driving peacefully down a city street. Suddenly, when coming to an intersection, out of nowhere, and to the driver's utter surprise, a car flies and spins (as if it had just been hit by an unseen source) - in slow motion - right in front of his car - (flying from right to left)... After a few seconds, he continues to drive but he hears a noise and looks in his side mirror, where he sees another car tumbling in the street towards his car... he slams the brakes and is paralyzed with shock - not understanding what's going on... when a few seconds later, a young woman opens his passenger door and quickly gets in while telling him firmly "DRIVE!" (or something like that)... It starts to get humorous when the driver starts to say things like, "What? NO! I don't know you! Why should I drive you anywhere?" I can't remember anything else... I just know that I really enjoyed the movie and would love to see it again. Thanks.

i have looked everywhere and spent hours looking for this movie.

This is my last resort, so i am hoping that this forum can help me find this movie. It was 2006 or before i was flipping through channels and it was on one of the movie channels. I so wished i looked at the name of the movie.
The movie is about a wannabe writer who went through a bad breakup and he is still living with his parents. His parents begin to think he is a gay because he is hanging around his best friend alot. But not known to the main character the best friend is sleeping with his ex girlfriend whom the main character is attached too. He meets a girl at a book store i think and falls for her, she looks through his notebook and finds a poem he has written and reads it in front of a crowd. the crowd loves it, but he is angry she did read it for everyone. that is where i left off, if anyone can help me id be eternally grateful. thank you All in advance for the replies

EDIT: the main character still lives at home, in a scene his best friend buys him a new mattress and his mother misses half of the conversation and it sounds like they are in a relationship.

A Lynchian '90s Film About Small 1950s Midwestern Town With Kidnapping, Rape, Murder,

I've been searching for this film for nearly twenty years....

Likely made in the early 1990s. American film, color, well made. Category: drama. Very creepy, slow, and Lynchian.

Based in a small Midwestern town in the 1950s, perhaps Kansas or Oklahoma, post-Dust Bowl.

I can't remember a plot, but I think it was based around one family with an older son who is wanting to leave his hometown but feels bad about leaving his mother.

    WHAT I DO REMEMBER:

There is a group of hoodlums (they look like '50s teenagers with white T-shirts, jeans, and slicked-back hair) who drive around town in a black(?) car, staring at the other townfolk, making them nervous. At one point, they get a young teenage girl to get in the car with them. She is never seen again. This disturbs the whole town.

A man (probably the girl's father, who also, I believe, owned the town's only gas station) pours gas on himself and lights himself on fire.

To sum it up: Very creepy, Lynchian, Midwestern, 1950s, hoodlums in a car kidnap a girl and kill her, man pours gasoline on himself and sets himself ablaze. Lynchian, very.

    HELP!

Can't remember the names of these movies!!!

I got memories of these 2 movies that I don't know the names.

The first one is about zombie(?) I remember there are people trapped in a mansion or something and they are being hunted. They have to apply green glowing thing around door frames to keep these hunters out. I also remember a woman(?) got her leg chopped off. And in the end, (don't know if this is the same movie lol) a woman (possibly black) takes a blood shower and somehow hugged the bad guy and the bad guy died and she went on a bus or something? That's all I can remember

The second one is probably about ghost. It is set in a big house (if i remember correctly it used to be an old hospital). A girl with a torch light heard noises behind the mirror in the bathroom and she broke it and there is another room behind. It goes all the way down to the basement and the scene swapped from past and present. In the past the basement is white and there are dead bloody bodies hanging down. I remember something about there weren't enough doctors during a war(?) or something like that. At the end of the movie, there is this girl (who went down to the basement first) she somehow got white eyes now and is holding a baby as the other (normal) girl walked passed the door.

    Thanks

    Seeking Movie Title

Hello! I saw this movie on cable around 15 years ago. I was around 7 years old so my recollection may not be so good, but here goes: There is a scene with a woman eating raw meat in car. The other scene I recall is the same woman in a car in a parking lot full of people. There is a man in the car and he attacks her sexually, the people walking through the parking lot ignore it...then my folks made me turn it off.

Not sure of any other details such as when it was released, etc. Hope you can help, this has been driving me nuts. thanks!

there was a female character who i think was a copy girl in a publishing company, the other girls nicknamed her Mouse. her boss i think bumps into her one day and she says something like if i killed myself tomorrow nobody would notice.
The next day she does not show up for work, and her boss goes looking for her, he finds out she went to see a sick friend in a slum type ghetto.

Any ideas we can't even think who the actor/actress was.

    Here's mine:

It was in the era of romancing the stone and jewel of the Nile.
I remember a man trying to escort a woman to "safety"? he was trying to convince her he was important, and she didn't believe him. The moment you believed him is when a pickup truck was air dropped threw the roof of a barn (I think).
I only remember that scene, cause the truck made me believe him.
I've been trying to remember this movie for decades.

Not sure if that's the correct title for the movie iaind was asking about.

I've seen What Women Wants with Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt and it has nothing to do with the movie that iaind described.

There was never a ghetto scene or a character named Mouse in What Women Wants.

I don't know why you think posting a part from WIKI automatically makes it match the movie iaind is looking for.

I think that the decision should be iaind's call, after all he is the one who is asking.
If you have a better match, please feel free to post it as well, in the meantime consider that in many cases facts gets crossed, and recollections tend to get mixed up over time. I also have seen the movie, and can see some similarities with iaind's clues.

    From Roger Ebert:

The movie is considerably slowed down by the unnecessary character of a suicidal file clerk, who does nothing of any interest until late in the movie, when Nick befriends her in a scene that serves no purpose, except to delay us on our way to the happy climax, which can be seen signaling eagerly from the next reel.

Fargo. When Shep Proudfoot, the Native American fellow, is beating up Steve Buscemi's character.
Homer Simpson: "I'm normally not a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me Superman."
