the bits with the chainsaw and the mask of human skin is false. The bit where a canabal killed people, and used their flesh is true.

texas chainsaw massacre is based on the serial killer Ed Gein in Wisconsin. there was never any family in texas which did these things. it was adapted by the director and put in texas because it seemed scarier with crazy southern inbread hicks

You sort of get that idea from the fact that on the Texan border there's a sign "Welcome to Texas, home of Sparky: the first electric chair"

I'm pretty sure that the origonal one was more accurate than the most recent. But most of that stuff was true. The entire family... sooo freakin sick. It's hard to imagin that there are acutaly people like that out there.

IN TEXAS!!!! Redstar is a Canibal!

But it's NOT TRUE!! There was no cannibalistic family and there was no massacre with a chainsaw. It's all made up!!

    It's a marketing ploy!

The original one being more accurate than the most recent??

If you were even paying attention to the original film, it states that the "real massacre" took place during the summer of 1974, and the film was shot in the summer of 1974. There is no way that it can be based off of any true story in Texas.

the trailer for the remake makes it look more like TCM parts 3 and 4, where its a whole family, men, women and children, unlike the original.

i read a story that there wuz a guy who lived on a farm in the country... in Texas. and he dug up dead people and ate them. used their face as a mask... and did weird gross stuff.

there's no proof that he did it to live people. BUT, there were reports of missing people around that area.... but no evidence.

maybe that's the true story that inspired this movie...
