Superman Costume - Chemical Engineers inventing new fabric for Superman Movie??

    From Superhero Hype!

According to Ain't-It-Cool-News, costume designer Kym Barrett ("The Matrix," "From Hell" and "Three Kings") was interviewed in the Swedish newspaper Borås Tidning about the Superman costume.

"I can't say very much about that right now, but we are working on the construction of the fabric for the costume. We have a bunch of chemical engineers and fabric designers working together and trying to invent a new, exciting material. You have to bear in mind that Superman is an extraterrestrial, from an entirely different planet, so the fabric must not resemble anything we have here on Earth."

The film is planned to begin shooting in May and June 2004 and is more than a year away from being on screen. There isn't even an actor chosen for the part of Superman yet, but Kym says they do have a favorite in the run -- a secret, of course.

"He's an unknown actor, but he's gorgeous."

That's cool that they will be inventing a new fabric but it is even cooler that the production is looking towards an unknown actor instead of (shudder) Brendan Frasier!!

Exactly, this just shows that the movie will be nothing like the comic. I'm sure Kal-el's parents included all sizes of the Superman costume for him to wear on Earth

    He should use Zorro's costume

Nothing like any fabric here on earth?

As long as it's not some shiny material that looks like vinyl

She can still sew it together. It just means that she made the costume from material that was found in his ship.

    Good and valid point....

She's just too pretty for Hollywood. I don't know, put her in a glass box and display her at the Metropolitan Museum of Art or something. - Jake on the topic of Scarlett Johansson.
