Question Working on project: Favorite farewell scenes? (spoilers alert)

    Good evening!

I am working on a project and realized that I didn't have to wrack my brain all alone. I'm hoping that ya'll could add your two cents to my thought process:

What are your most favorite/memorable/emotional movie farewell scenes?

    Thanks!

Well umm.....only ones that came to mind were the end of Terminator 2 because i'm sure everyone wanted the Terminator to stay with John Connor but it sucked that he couldnt and the end of Dragonheart.

Armageddon (Bruce Willis saying good-bye to Liv Tyler), Deep Impact (plenty of farewell sequences - the NASA spaceship crew saying good-bye to their families, Leelee Sobieski saying goodbye to her parents and adopting her little brother), Scream 2 (when Randy died... maybe that's just me)

I'm another Armageddon farewell scene fan! Have to agree there. Strong and powerful. Especially with the flashback scenes in the eye when he presses the button too. Loved that!

Bettlejuices ending with the music and dancing. I just have to get up and dance around the lounge when I watch that. Winona Ryder is so cute @ that age.

Soooooo... taking the short cut, ey?

Well depends exactly how you define a 'farewell' scene: farewell to people? farewell to people dying? farwell to a place? farewell to an event? farewell to a little hamster?

I was just gonna say the same thing. Not that it's the best, but it's memorably baaaad.

    Also, genuinely memorable ones:

Forrest Gump (Forrest saying goodbye at Jenny's grave)
Monsters, Inc (farewell scene between Sully and Boo)
Toy Story 2 (the sequence with Jessy and Emily - technically not a farewel scene, but it almost brought me to tears.)

and no such list is completed without

Casablanca (the final scene at the airport)

    Thumbs up

I loved the farewell in HEAT-1995 (one of my favs)
    Them holding hands...
    I hope that counts.
And MAN ON FIRE (My ultimate fav)
I have never been so effected in a movie before
Sgt. Johnny Beaufort: He says, "The Apaches are a great race," sir. "They've never been conquered. But it is not well for a nation to be always at war. The young men die... the women sing sad songs... and the old ones are hungry in the winter."
